#TryFive: 5 Days of Early Exercise Follow-up
Wellll, I did it! I woke up between 7 and 7:30 last Monday through Friday and was either at the gym or my favorite semi-secret hiking spot at or before 8AM (with the exception of one day in which I got to my hiking spot after 8 because I got stuck in morning LA traffic, but stilllll). Being at the gym early and more often than I usually am made me want to lift a lot, but I had to remember the importance of recovery. Because I normally don't go to the gym every day, I always lift weights on the days I do go. But last week I was doing something new by working out every morning, so I had to remember to relax with the weights. All in all last week, I did three days of lifting (with a light cardio warm-up each day), one hiking day, and one gym day where I did an hour on the treadmill (5 minutes of running and then 55 minutes of walking with some incline work here and there so I wouldn't get bored). It felt really good to wake up early and get moving, and I don't want to lose that. I want to continue waking up early whether I'm exercising or not. This Monday I got myself up early again, but it's been getting harder, so I need to keep training myself. It was nice to have more hours of productivity so I could stop at a coffee shop to read or wander through a tiny local bookstore or sit and work on my short film I'm writing without feeling like I was pressed for time before I had to be at work.
So, I'm very proud of myself! I'm trying to figure out what else I want to do for #TryFive, and I'll post about it when I have some other ideas and goals. *Insert thumbs up here.*
